Hinkapin Health carefully evaluates the physicians and facilities within our network, considering clinical experience, quality indicators and consistency of care.
Our network is strongest in Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston and Austin, and we currently support members across 17 states. Whenever practical, we aim to help members access appropriate care within 50 miles of where they live, depending on specialist and facility availability.
How We Evaluate Physicians
Our physician vetting process considers a range of factors, including:
Qualifications
Board certification and fellowship training, where applicable.
Experience
Surgical experience and procedure volume relevant to the care being provided.
Quality Indicators
Postoperative infection rates, complication rates, emergency department visits, hospital transfers and returns to the operating room.
Patient Outcomes
Overall outcomes, quality and consistency of care.
We Evaluate the Facility, Too.
The physician is only one part of the surgical experience.
Hinkapin also evaluates hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers with the same focus on quality and appropriate care.
The goal isn't simply to find a place where a procedure can be performed. It's to help identify the right physician and the right facility for that particular patient.

When a member is outside one of our primary markets, our navigation team works to identify appropriate specialists and facilities closer to where the member lives whenever practical.
