Hinkapin Health was born from a deeply personal and heartbreaking experience. Over a decade ago, not long after the Affordable Care Act began, we cared for a patient who desperately needed a life-saving screening colonoscopy. Despite having insurance, her co-pay was unaffordable. She delayed care, her condition worsened, and tragically, she lost her life.

That loss became our driving force. A small group of dedicated healthcare professionals came together with a single mission: do what is right for the patient. We created our first transparent, all-inclusive bundled surgery package — a colonoscopy at one fixed price. This simple idea grew quickly.

Starting at our flagship facility, North Texas Team Care Surgery Center in Mesquite, we expanded from colonoscopies to general surgery, orthopedics, pain management, ENT, spine surgery, urology, colorectal surgery, and even plastic surgery. As patients and employers saw the value, word spread.

One pivotal moment came when a patient in our pain clinic — an HR director for a large self-insured company — asked why we couldn’t bring our bundled surgical model to their workforce. That introduction led us into the world of self-funded healthcare and partnerships with third-party administrators (TPAs). We began delivering high-quality, predictable-cost surgeries at multiple centers across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, and eventually, to communities across Texas and beyond.
